How many hearts is too many hearts for one hat? That’s a trick question because obviously the answer is: “There’s no such thing as too many hearts!”

This simple fair isle hat is taken up a notch with the addition of heart shaped earflaps. Though absolutely adorable they add a double layer of warmth over the ears making them a practical consideration on these freezing cold winter days. They also go a long way towards upping your cute factor - not that you need the help, you’re cuteness is already off the charts. Hey, if you got it, flaunt it!

Hat Measures 14.25 (16, 17.75, 19.5, 21.25)” circumference unstretched. *My 5 yo and I can wear the same size hat (adult small) kids have big heads! My 3 yo (pictured) wears the child size.

100 (120, 150, 175, 210) yds of worsted weight yarn total.

MC: 65 (75, 95, 120, 140) yds.

The remaining yardage for pompom, fair isle hearts, heart earflaps and ties can be made up of 1 or several colourways.

Gauge
18 sts and 24 rounds = 4” in stockinette stitch on larger needles after blocking.

4 mm (US 6) 16” circular needle and dpns.

5 mm (US 8)16” circular needle and dpns.
