Little Luminosity
Little Luminosity
Now that I have a daughter I have a newfound love of the sweater dress! They are so easy to layer over onesies and leggings and always look incredibly chic. But the real beauty lies in it’s versatility, from dress to tunic to t-shirt this is a design that will grow with your babe. This style is the perfect canvas to show off a stunning yoke. I couldn’t help but sprinkle in a bit of fun colourwork around the hem as well. Of course this design works just as well as a sweater if your little one is less into dresses, so instructions for both options are included.
Sizes: 0-6 mo (6-12 mo, 1-2, 2-4) 4-6, 6-8, 8-10 years.
Finished Chest: 18¼ (19½, 20½, 22¼) 24½, 26¾, 29¼“
Gauge: 28 stitches and 36 rows = 10 cm on larger needles in stockinette in the round.
Needles: US 2 / 2.75 mm and US 3 / 3.25 mm 24” and 32” circular needles and dpns. Or size needed to obtain gauge.
Yarn and yardage:
11 contrasting colours labeled 1-11 for your convenience and 260 (300, 350, 400) 500, 675, 850 yards of main colour.
There is a lot of room for yarn substitutions here. You don’t have to use as many colours as I have, I just happen to have a lot of odds and ends of leftover sock yarn to pull from! This yoke would look just as great with as few as 2-3 colours.
The yardage required for the contrasting colours can vary wildly depending on the way you choose to lay them out. You’ll need as little as 7 yards of the less-used colours and as much as 45 yards of the more prominent colours. More or less depending on your artistic choices.
Dress with cap sleeves:
MC: 260 (300, 350, 400) 500, 675, 850 yards
CC: total of 100 (110, 120, 140) 160, 180, 200 yards
For long sleeves, add 25 (30, 30, 35) 35, 40, 45 yards of MC.
