Happy 2020!

We snuck away for a last minute trip to the cottage this past week. We kept saying how nice it would be to go, how we wished we could, talking about it as though it were totally out of the realm of possibility. Our cottage is a full 12 hour drive from our house, so it’s not a quick weekend trip, it’s a commitment! But one day (around Dec. 22nd!) it hit me that it would be lots of driving, but that it would be worth it, we should be spontaneous and do it! So we did, and it was awesome.

It was the perfect way to ring in the new decade. To be in a place that we love with our little crew doing simple, favourite things. January first doesn’t usually feel like the beginning of the year for me, but this year is different. Chris and I were married and bought our first home in 2010, exactly a decade ago and having the decade bookmarked by such round numbers (2010! 2020!) feels somehow poetic. It’s been a decade of extreme growth and change yet much has stayed the same. I’m feeling very nostalgic, looking back on the decade and also very excited about what the next 10 years have in store for us.

Happy New Year friends!
