Happy Tuesday! It feels great to be starting the week on a Tuesday after a lovely long weekend. We had terrific weather, it was perfect. What better way to kick off a short work week than with a giveaway?! You all know that I'm no stranger to wee knits (exhibit A). In fact they are some of my favourite things to knit, especially now that I have my own tiny little person to knit for! From Mama, With Love is a pattern collection put together by an A-Team of mama knitters, featuring designs that they constructed especially for their little ones. I love this sort of pattern collection. Since they were designing for their own family you know the patterns are going to be top notch - nothing but the best for our babies, right mamas?
Featured Knits - clockwise from top left: Bluebell Pullover & Isadora Lopapeysa by Kate Gagnon Osborn, Callum Vest by Tanis Gray, Kearney Hat by Connie Chang Chinchio.
The From Mama, With Love pattern collection features 15 designs by 5 talented designers/mothers: Connie Chang Chinchio, Tanis Gray, Margaux Hufnagle, Melissa Lebarre and Kate Gagnon Osborn. All of the patterns are lovely, but I do have a few faves of course. I love the colour blocking and the neckline detail in the Bluebell Pullover - the colour possibilities are endless! Same goes for the Isadora Lopapeysa pullover. I LOVE a chevron rainbow. Actually, this pattern has just jumped to the top of my "must knit for Rowan list". I will probably knit mine in a gradient rainbow... maybe greens? Stay tuned! No boy's wardrobe is complete without a sassy vest, and the very cool lacy cables on the front of the Callum Vest make it a home run for me. And lastly, the Kearney Hat. I would absolutely wear that hat in my size. I love slouchy hats on kids, there's just something inherently cool about a bit of slouch in a hat.
And of course, I have to highlight the beautiful Antonia Blanket designed by Tanis Gray and featuring TFA Green Label Aran Weight yarn in the Lilac colourway. The cables on this blanket are a thing of beauty! Tanis has such an eye for interesting texture and new-to-me cable formations. This blanket is a stunner! (ps: it is soooo weird for me to be writing about "Tanis" I am definitely not used to sharing my name!)
So - who wants to win a copy of the e-book? To qualify for the giveaway simply leave a comment on this blog post telling me your favourite thing to knit for kids (sweaters, hats, blankets, reference a specific pattern if you've got a favourite!) I am aware that my new blog is not completely bug-free and some people are having a hard time leaving a comment - no problem! Head on over to my facebook group (be sure to "like" TFA on facebook!) and leave me a comment over there and I'll count that as your entry. Be sure to leave your Ravelry username or email address so I can get in touch with you should you win. A winner will be announced on Thursday, May 22.
